2 mile warmup, 10x3 min threshold with 1 min rest, 10 min cooldown Another good threshold workout down. Was able to get to the point where my legs were feeling a tiny bit of lactic, and my heart and lungs were getting the full benefits. I think the heat will enhance the effect as well. We found this nice loop at fullersburg to do the workout Thats 30 more minutes of good work without feeling burned out. 😎

2 mile warmup, leg swings, 5x6 min threshold with 1 min rest, 10 min cooldown. With ian, nicp, sean, and nate. Felt pretty good overall. I kept the lactic in check, running at a sustainable pace. The longer intervals definitely are more difficult, even though we are running at a slower pace than the shorter intervals. In my opinion, the rest should be increased to 1:30 for longer intervals just to give the muscles slightly more time to recover. I felt myself having to hold myself back a slightly on reps 3, 4, and 5 as to not let lactate build up too much. Longer rest might allow for a faster pace. Had fun and good to see Ian and Sean back with the group!

3 mile warmup, leg swings, 25x1 min threshold with 30 sec walking rest, 10 min cooldown With nate, joe, kyle, and nicp. Started a little slow and progressed up to a fast, smooth pace where the lactate felt controlled. Threshold feels so good because i feel like i can accumulate so much fasted paced work without having to pay a hefty price. Joe and i agreed the special 3-6 breathing had an effect on the workout. It had an effect on hoes HR and I think it made it slightly harder to breathe, but that could be a good thing, allowing for more VO2 max adaptation for less muscular cost. Gonna continue doing 3-6 breathing on 1 or 2 easy run per week when i feel comfortable.

EASY run with walt, akhil, joe, and nate Optimal muscle tone after this run. Also tried a new breathing method based on the concept that the musculoskeletal system is the limiter of running. You align your breathing with your steps, breathing in for 3, out for 6 and repeating. My theory is that this mimics the effect of altitude training by reducing the amount of oxygen your body has to work with, while also keeping the load on the muscles to a minimum. Your lungs get a little workout, while your muscles get an easy day. Joe and i tried it today, and we are going to see how we feel on the workout tomorrow. I dont think our lungs will be too tired to get a quality threshold workout. Cyclists do 2, even 3 hard days in a row. My hope is runners can too.

2 mile warmup to fbw, 13x2 min threshold (lost count), cooldown back home I must say i am insanely impressed with this new type of workout. I think it will have more return on investment than anything else we have done. Today, i was able to run fast for long, and feel only a little fatigue. For me what works best, i think, is pushing the pace as close to my lactate ceiling as possible, and then if i hit it, ease up a bit to reset before edging back up. I know this is not perfect, so i hope i can get better and better at knowing my own ceiling and taking advantage (the ceiling being the point at which lactate starts to build up faster than it can reasonably be cleared).

Morning workout because i dont have a 7th period final 2 mile warmup to fbw, leg swings, 8x3 mins threshold with 1 min walking rest, cooldown back home The workout felt pretty good, but i was going too fast in the first few reps because i felt the lactic climbing around rep 6. I eased up a bit as to not overdo it. For the most part though, i felt smooth and relaxed on all the reps.
