Forgot my watch on the charger today. First day back from being sick felt pretty good. Is that because of the temp? Of course. Do I still have high hopes for a quick recovery? Of course!

GPS for workout, mileage for everything including warmup and cooldown. Heart rate just kept skyrocketing today, def gonna get ferritin checked and maybe start eating iron enriched cereal anyways. My legs felt fine as per the purpose of thresholds, but that came at the cost of my lungs and heart. For the workout itself, my average heart rate was in zone 4, and it was up into zone 5 during some later reps. I felt like death, but it’s alright and I’m sure I’ll recover from my heart rate slump soon enough.

Solid 25 x 1 minute threshold workout either Otis, Kyle, Nate, and Nick. Warmup on the GPS, added miles and time bc of the workout. This was easy on the legs today, just tried keeping the lactic out of my body to have a productive threshold day. Each rep I believe was about 6:10-6:15 pace near the end, with the earlier ones at around 6:45-6:50 pace. Definitely easy on the muscles, as designed, but I think my heart rate was a bit higher than it should’ve been (averaging around 170 for the workout) in part due to the heat but also because of Otis’s breathing strategy from yesterday. We both felt about the same, so we agreed that the strategy definitely works, but we will only really use it once or twice per week depending on the schedule.

Some more education from Otis on muscle tone optimization. He had an idea today to try to get more aerobic benefit by breathing through the nose in 3 out 6. Heart rate was about the same, muscles felt fine, but lungs were affected more at the end. This may have been due to my allergies today, but it felt good to try something new, and I’m going to keep following Otis’s advice, since he knows a lot about Bakken’s writing and has been performing well by following it. He’s very insightful and a great help right now.

Got done with a little less than 800 each rep. Ran with Sean. This was a bit difficult bc of the heat, should probably tone it down for the next workout so that I don’t get injured our burnt out
