2nd place at the sophomore conference with Evan, Andrew and Liam. The conditions were terrible (90 degrees annd 35 mph winds) and I had nobody to run with the entire time but I still managed to squeak out a pr for 2:14. This is more proof that I can go much faster. Super exciting to score for our team.

Ran stough with andrew and liam. Since I ran 2:20 for the first split of the mile I know I can run much faster than 2:18 for the 800. My only pace-based plan is to take the first 400 like I would run an actual 400 (or at least very close) and keep pushing until the finish. Since I’m second in the relay for tomorrow I should have people to race with.

What a race! I think this meet went very well for me. In terms of racing, this was definitely the most focused I've been all season. I came into the meet with a clear goal: win the heat. I saw that everyone's PRs were around where mine was, and since I knew I could do much better than the 4:57 I ran at the South dual meet I was convinced I would be able to do it. My plan was to stay right behind the leader for the first three laps and then win in the kick for the last 400. As soon as we left the waterfall start I was just behind a south kid and stuck with him for the first lap. While I drifted off of him little by little, I kept pushing myself and recommitting myself to staying as close to him as possible. Around lap 3, I was passed by an LT guy. I made him fight for it and we went neck and neck from the 100 to the 250 mark but he eventually broke out. Last lap I pushed myself but realized I wouldn't be able to be at him. I threw myself into the last 50 meters when I saw the couple guys trying to pass me in my peripheral and gave it everything I had to make it in second place. Overall I think I raced it very well, probably better than I've raced any meet in my life. Hoping to bring that same energy to Thursday's race! And we can't forget Owen breaking five by the skin of his teeth. It was so awesome to see the alumns and the seniors show up for everyone as well. Amazing night all around.

Ran 2:18 and 63 for the 800 and 400. I was expecting a little better but I don’t think I raced poorly at all. Because I didn’t have an indoor season I only really have practice in two mile this season so that’s where I’ve been having the most success. I’m running in conference!!! Very exciting and I can’t wait to help our team.

My hamstring was bothering me so I took this race slower to pace some people. I started out going sub 5 but switched to just have Owen run as fast as he could and stayed a little bit in front of him for the last two laps. Ended up going 5:04 and Owen went 5:08. I ran something like 5:07 at this same meet last year so I know Owen has it in him for sub 5 :)

Ran the 400-800-800-400 workout with Ian after the AP Euro exam. Went 66, 2:30, 2:30, and 71. Very tough workout, but the 66 split for the first 400 didn’t help me much, neither did the very short warmup.
