Half Marathon ✅. Hard to know what to write here. There’s the analytical part of how I raced and what I could’ve done better, but I think the more important part is I’m so proud to have done this. I know it’s nothing like a full marathon, and one day I will do that, but this is a lifetime achievement in itself and I feel extremely accomplished. 4 months in the making!
I finished the race feeling truly injured - my left leg completely tightened up and it was almost a run limp for the last 2 miles, furthering the pain but I didn’t want to slow down. Another thing I did wrong was I made my move WAY to early. I caught up to the 1:50 pace group and settled in for about a mile. When running with them my mind was tricked to think I felt amazing. Pacing with them felt like a walk in the park so at mile 6 I decided to start pushing it. That was way too early and it ended up killing me around mile 9. But I pushed through and still get a PR. LETS GO. BIG DOG.
