Heading home today. Bali was magical. Every mark hit during this honeymoon. Going to look back fondly on this forever. What a great start to marriage.

Gym at the first hotel was hilariously non existent so I haven’t been able to workout. But to the hotels credit, everything else was exquisite. There also was probably 4-5 flights of stairs down to our villa so the legs stayed active. We’re on the beach now at a different hotel with a real gym so we’re back at it.

Something definitely wrong with my left knee. Going to continue to take it easy.

First time back in the gym since Saturday. I tried to run but my left knee immediately became aggravated. I’ve been feeling this just walking around the house that last 2 days. I was hoping it was just tightness that would work itself out but it felt like it was getting worse. I don’t want to injure it (any further) so decided to walk the rest of the mile. Walking doesn’t hurt it, so I’m hoping it’s just a light impact injury that is still healing.

Half Marathon ✅. Hard to know what to write here. There’s the analytical part of how I raced and what I could’ve done better, but I think the more important part is I’m so proud to have done this. I know it’s nothing like a full marathon, and one day I will do that, but this is a lifetime achievement in itself and I feel extremely accomplished. 4 months in the making! I finished the race feeling truly injured - my left leg completely tightened up and it was almost a run limp for the last 2 miles, furthering the pain but I didn’t want to slow down. Another thing I did wrong was I made my move WAY to early. I caught up to the 1:50 pace group and settled in for about a mile. When running with them my mind was tricked to think I felt amazing. Pacing with them felt like a walk in the park so at mile 6 I decided to start pushing it. That was way too early and it ended up killing me around mile 9. But I pushed through and still get a PR. LETS GO. BIG DOG.

1.5 warmup at 8:07. 0.5 tempo at 6:58. 1 mile cooldown at 8:30. Should’ve gone longer but wasn’t feeling great and figured I still got the muscles activated.

Halfway between easy and workout. Felt good. Less than a week.

1.5 warmup at 8:30. 8x1 1 minute fartlek tempo at 6:58, 1 minute rest at 7:58. 1.45 cooldown at 8:50. Killer workout, felt great even though I was in an 80 degree Houston gym again. This is a fantastic crowning achievement workout prior to race day. I’m so proud I did this. This is a real workout I would’ve done in high school. Big dog.

First 3.00 in 23:21. Took a break before the last mile because the gym AC was broken and it was 79 degrees (in Houston this week). Gotta keep the gas on - 2 weeks left.

First half marathon ever. Felt extremely accomplished finishing this. So excited to have done this. It was a perfect day for a run - high 50s, breezy, overcast but super crisp. Ran along the entire lakefront and it was full of people which was great energy. I enjoyed every minute of this except the last mile. I had to double back to hit the mileage I wanted on the lakefront, but all things considered that’s ok. Race in 2 weeks! Keeping calm and cool but feeling excited.
