Nationals 4x800 was a bitter sweet ending to the season. Post state I was really excited to run something fast after not really hitting the time goals I set for myself. When the race started I got out really well and was 3rd around the 150m mark. But I made the mistake of not continuing with the top guys and instead falling back. I was worried that they would get out fast and it would be better for me to sit in the middle. Except i went out 58 high and was boxed in through the 400m. I closed the last lap really well and negative split but since I had gotten out so slow through the 400 it didn’t matter. I ended up splitting a pretty mediocre 1:57.7. After I knew I had too much left in the tank and I feel like I didn’t run what I was capable of. The rest of the relay went similarly and we ran a good amount off what we ran at state and what we were hoping to run. I’m pretty sad about it but reflecting back on this season I am really proud of how far we came from a year ago. I’m still grateful to have another year with the guys and I know we will be back stronger next year. Gonna take a bit of a break before cross.
