In reflection of the meet I think I can take away one thing for the rest of my life. It’s the act of doing that’s important not the result. It is cliche and heavily used throughout media nowadays but I think understanding that phrase is integral. During the race coming of a sickness, and continued sickness, my body collapsed 2nd mile and I wanted to drop out the race so bad. I’m ultimately proud of myself for not letting myself go and trying to fight my inner thoughts of giving up and stopping and making excuses. I may have not have gotten the place and time I wanted but, I got the experience of not giving up which I think is more useful. Good final race of the season.

16:38 3 mile which wasn’t my best performance but it was still a good showing on my part. I need to become less weak I need to point my head upwards and be loose with my stride. During the race I went out in a 5:16 mile and then kind of died 2nd mile but the biggest thing was telling myself yes I’m going to win this race but I need to push myself past what I think I can do. I need to dig deep and defeat myself not anyone around me. Because it doesn’t matter if there’s 50 guys around me like at Detweiler or no people around me like today I need to be sharp and strong in my convictions regardless. If I’m not going to push myself who will.

That was an efficacious workout. I think today’s result was exactly the result I envisioned when warming up and first hearing about the workout. Even though yesterday I didn’t run because I was out sick, I still felt capable and ready to push myself coming into the workout. Me and p dog just pushed every single rep and Andrew tried to beat me but then I had to sit him down on the last rep. 10 minute tempo before the 1ks definitely warmed me up well. I have to have more confidence in myself if I want to do good on Saturday because all I’m thinking about on Saturday is not pushing the pace and going out a tiny bit more conservative because I haven’t truly ran a 3 mile race since freshman year xc.
