Run

Richard Spring 2026. I’m very proud of the guys that ran - notably Otis, Alex and Sean, as it’s (at least it seemed to me) their first time here and their first higher pressure meet. I’m incredibly grateful to the coaches for allowing me to tag along in my state; if I didn’t, I likely wouldn’t have run yesterday and found out that I’m capable of running three miles again. In addition to that, I had a lot of fun this weekend and got to learn even more about my teammates and get more bonding time in. I savor every moment of this sport I receive, as it is my passion and my days running are unfortunately numbered - although it’s a long way away, the doctors don’t believe that a post-high-school future in running is in store for me. I plan to enjoy every mile I’m blessed with being able to run, as this situation has taught me that running is a gift that a vast amount of people would give anything to receive. I’m making decent progress towards being able to run full time again. I take the training week by week as coach suggested, and things are certainly looking up for me. I know that, even if another roadblock protrudes from my path forward, I’ll be able to overcome it in a similar fashion to what I’m doing now. I truly believe that this experience so far has taught me a valuable lesson about resilience. It’s only up from here!
