Love this team. We knew going in that we needed to get lucky to make it to state. Sucks that it just wasn’t our day today. Really sucks. I know every single one of us, the entire team that is, was willing to fight like hell for each other. We did not lose from a lack of effort. To Micheal, Henry, Cooper, Tarasi, Johnny, and Elliot, so glad to have gotten the chance to race with you all. The end result pays no justice to the work and effort the 6 of you have put into the team this season. There are no others who I would rather race with in the end. Win or lose. Before the race, I told myself that no matter what happened, I wanted to end things with no regrets. I knew that I wasn’t playing with a full hand but wasn’t willing to accept that and do nothing about it. Spent the days leading up cross training, icing, heating, stretching and getting as much sleep as possible. Wish it would have helped out a little more but I know it helped me get to the line and just have the opportunity in the first place. I know that many other seniors; Kasra, Quinn, Ferren, Buckley, Anand, and Alex didn’t have that chance. Grateful to have made it to the top 7 senior year especially with historically awful cross country seasons. It is strange that it’s over now. Still don’t know what to make of yesterday but I do know that I can stomach defeat so long as it is with my teammates. I don’t think I will ever forget the moment when the scores updated and silence fell over the team area. The collective shock went through the entire team whether you were top 7, top 14 or just there to support. It was a sense of defeat that really stung. More than falling at under the lights or getting injured at the start of cross country last year. I think that shows just how invested in this race everyone was and seeing the harsh reality that we just weren’t good enough sucked. Going to get the soleus situation figured out as soon as possible. I have a few goals for track that will be out of the question if it continues to linger. I know that the rest of the team is hungry for revenge this track season. I am confident that the loss of yesterday will fuel our team and push us in the right direction for the future. Curious to see what the meeting tomorrow holds for us. Love this team.
