Race Day! 1st quarter: I got out great during this race. Last year during cross this was my main downfall, starting out too slowly and playing catch-up the whole race. I got better at this during the span of track season and I know I did a good job of it this race. 2nd quarter: nothing special here, I settled in to a good pace and hit Smith said I was at 5:30 at the mile mark (was it really the mile mark? he didn’t seem sure after the race). 3rd quarter: I picked up the pace a little before the last lap but it probably could have been picked up a little more, overall fine though. 4th quarter: disaster struck. I’m not going to go into details of my injury or coach will get mad but it happened in the last 50-75 meters or so. This is definitely a lesson for me because this isn’t the first time it’s happened and I need to realize that kicking as fast as possible isn’t always the best plan. Overall thoughts: I thought this race went really well until the end. I paced fine and I ended up getting 4th place overall. I felt super calm and confidant the whole way through. Photo feat.
